Patrushev spoke about the preparations for the new cycle of field work

The Ministry of Agriculture and the regions have approved the structure of acreage for 2026. This was announced on February 5 by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev at a meeting dedicated to the development of the crop industry.

"The total area is expected to reach 83 million hectares, which exceeds the fact of 2025. About 20 million hectares of winter crops have already been sown for this year's harvest. According to experts, 97% of crops are now in a normal state," Patrushev said.

The meeting also discussed issues such as obtaining high yields of agricultural crops of excellent quality, maintaining soil fertility, technological development and the use of achievements of domestic breeding.

As for last season, according to the Deputy Prime Minister, the third largest grain harvest in the country's history was harvested - about 142 million tons. Over 93 million tons of them are wheat.

Patrushev stressed that following the results of the 2025 harvesting campaign, several record values were updated, among them legumes, soybeans and rapeseed, and the harvest of vegetables and potatoes made it possible to fully meet the needs of the domestic market.

In December 2025, Dmitry Patrushev, in an interview with Izvestia, stated that the grain harvest in Russia should reach 170 million tons by 2030. He noted that the production of agricultural products will have to be increased by a quarter by this year. Currently, Russia holds a leading position in the world in terms of harvesting, with grain volumes consistently exceeding 120 million tons for seven years.
