The Bridgertons, Season 4: what the first part is about and when to continue
On January 29, the fourth season of the Bridgetons series premiered on the Netflix platform. The saga will consist of eight seasons in total. Izvestia tells us what the first part of the season was like and when the second one will be released.
The Bridgetons series Season 4 — release date, how many episodes
The series "The Bridgertons" is released on the Netflix platform. There will be a total of eight episodes in the fourth season, their release has been divided into two parts. The broadcast of the first part began on January 29, 2026, and the second part will be released on February 26.
The multi—part film was created by Jess Brownell and produced by Shonda Rhimes.
The first season of The Bridgertons was released in December 2020, and the second followed in March 2022. In May 2023, viewers received a spin-off called "Queen Charlotte: The Bridgerton Story," a prequel that takes the action several decades before the main plot. The creators decided to divide the third season into two parts, which premiered in May and June 2024.
"We're working to release the seasons faster, but they take eight months to shoot, then they need to be edited, and then they need to be dubbed," Jess Brownell told The Hollywood Reporter.
How does "Bridgetons" differ from other TV series
The series was based on the novels of Julia Queen. The Bridgerton cycle (2002-2006) consists of eight books, each of which is dedicated to one of the family's children, and the collection published in 2013 reveals their future fate.
The series takes place in a notional Britain of the early 19th century, but with differences: the series demonstrates racial diversity. In the story, King George III married dark-skinned Charlotte, which changed the social structure of society and made it more diverse. In the third season, the creators pushed the theme of representation even further — they introduced characters with disabilities and characters using sign language.
What were the previous seasons of the Bridgerton series about (contains spoilers)
The series tells about the life of the aristocratic Bridgerton family. The plot centers on widow Violet Bridgerton and her eight children: sons Anthony, Benedict, Colin and Gregory, as well as daughters Daphne, Eloise, Francesca and Hyacinth. Each season is dedicated to the love story of one of them. The first chapter was about the affair of the eldest daughter of the Bridgetons, Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) and Lord Hastings (Rega Page). In the second, attention shifted to Anthony (Jonathan Bailey), who found his chosen one in the person of Kate Sharma (Simon Ashley).
The third season of The Bridgertons focuses on the love story of Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) and his longtime girlfriend Penelope Featherington (Nicola Kohlan). The youngest of the three Featherington sisters has long been leading a double life: she is the one behind the mysterious pseudonym Lady Whistledown, who publishes gossip of the capital's society. By the end of the season, Penelope has to reveal her secret, after which she marries Colin, reconciles with her family, receives forgiveness from Queen Charlotte and becomes the mother of a son who will become Lord Featherington.
Although the main plot develops the line of Colin and Penelope (fans call them Pauline), the creators have not forgotten about the other characters. Anthony and Kate, the main characters of the second season, are preparing to become parents and finally go to India to visit Kate's family.
Widow Violet Bridgerton (Ruth Gemmell) meets Lord Marcus Anderson (Daniel Francis), the brother of Lady Danbury (Ajoa Andoh). There is sympathy between them, but both the past and obligations prevent these feelings from developing into something more.
Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson), the second son of the family, starts a relationship with the mysterious widow Tilly Arnold (Hannah New), but by the end he admits that he is not ready for a bond and prefers freedom. Meanwhile, Francesca (Hannah Dodd), the third of the sisters, marries the Earl of Kilmartin (Victor Alley) and plans to move to Scotland with Eloise (Claudia Jessie), who has become her close friend.
What will Season 4 of The Bridgertons be about?
The second son of the family, Benedict, a frivolous rake and aspiring artist, will be at the center of the fourth season of the Bridgerton family. After the events of the third part, the hero remains faithful to his love of freedom and is in no hurry to tie the knot.
In the season finale, he only casually mentions that he is going to attend a masquerade ball organized by his mother. It is at such a ball, according to the plot of Julia Queen's novel "The Gentleman's Proposal," that Benedict first meets his beloved Sophie Beckett.
The role of Sophie in the series will be played by actress Erin Ha, as Variety reported in August. Viewers are already familiar with her from the Halo series, an adaptation of the popular video game, as well as from the Dune: Prophecy project (2024), where Ha played a young version of the heroine Kashi.
