FT revealed details of the plan to secure a peace agreement on Ukraine
Ukraine, the United States and the European Union (EU) countries have agreed on a multi-level plan to support Kiev during the truce with Russia. This was reported on February 3 by The Financial Times newspaper, citing sources.
According to the newspaper, Washington and a number of EU countries have agreed on a mechanism for a "coordinated military response" in case the Russian side systematically violates the terms of the agreement. At the initial stage, it is planned to send a diplomatic warning, as well as the involvement of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) within a day after the violation is recorded.
If the fighting continues, the so-called "coalition of the willing" will join the process. With further escalation and the transition to a large-scale offensive, it is planned to activate forces supported by the collective West, including the possible involvement of the American military.
It is expected that Western forces may be deployed 72 hours after the first recorded violation of the ceasefire.
Yesterday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Kiev wants to divert attention from the settlement process and avoid discussing the substantive part of the US plan based on the Anchorage agreements. Lavrov also noted that Russia appreciates the efforts made by the United States to move forward on the issue of the Ukrainian settlement.
After the first round on January 28, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the Russian government had positively assessed the start of direct contacts between Moscow and Kiev. In addition, he noted that the negotiations on Ukraine in Abu Dhabi turned out to be very difficult and sensitive.
