The expert named the criteria for early retirement of Russians

Russian citizens with long-term work experience, industrial workers with harmful and dangerous working conditions, as well as mothers with many children can expect early retirement. Lyudmila Ivanova-Shvets, Associate Professor of the Basic Department of Human Resource Management at the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, told about this on February 1.

The expert explained that special early retirement rules apply to privileged categories of citizens. For example, citizens who have developed preferential northern seniority can retire earlier than the established age if they have 15 years of experience and an individual pension coefficient (IPC) of 30.

For territories equated to the regions of the Far North, the length of service must be at least 20 years for women (and the total insurance experience is 20 years), and for men — 25 years. If the length of service is less than 7.5 years, it will be calculated according to the formula, and each year worked reduces the retirement age by 4 months.

Employees who have worked in conditions with harmful, difficult and dangerous working conditions can also apply for early retirement. Women can retire at 45, and men at 50, if they have 10 years of work in such conditions, and the total length of service is 15 years for women and 20 years for men.

"Early retirement is also provided for mothers with many children. If you have at least 15 years of insurance experience, mothers of three children can retire at 57, and mothers of four children at 56," she explained in an interview with RIA Novosti.

The recalculation of pensions since January has already affected 400,000 mothers with many children.

Vadim Vinogradov, Professor and Dean of the HSE Faculty of Law, said on January 22 that some categories of Russian citizens have the right to apply for early retirement in 2026. It was clarified that the possibility of early retirement is provided for mothers with many children. Mothers of three children can receive pensions at the age of 57, and if they have four children, they can receive pensions at the age of 56. Russians who work in areas where working conditions are dangerous or difficult also retire earlier.
