Russian oil supplies to Georgia increased more than 16-fold last year, reaching a record $95.8 million. This was reported on January 31 by RIA Novosti, citing data from the Georgian customs and the Comtrade platform.

The volume of oil imports in absolute terms increased from 10.5 thousand to 225.3 thousand tons in 2025.

The previous record was set in 2016, when Georgia imported 39.6 thousand tons of oil from Russia worth $10.8 million.

The largest peak in supplies occurred in October 2025, when Georgian companies imported 99,000 tons of oil worth $46.7 million. In December, 91.7 thousand tons worth $35.8 million were imported.

In addition, in 2025, Azerbaijan supplied oil to Georgia, sending two small cargoes of 2 thousand tons each for a total of $1.8 million.

On January 22, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak announced that Russia had produced about 512 million tons of oil in 2025. Novak stressed that the share of friendly countries in Russia's oil supplies reached 90% last year. In addition, according to him, the growth of global oil consumption by 2050 may reach 15-20 million barrels per day.
