The Russian Foreign Ministry revealed details of the negotiations between Russia and Syria

Russia and Syria discussed issues of assistance to Damascus in overcoming economic problems and expanding trade during talks on Wednesday. This was announced on January 30 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

"We are ready to assist the people and the leadership of Syria in overcoming the problems they face during the transition period, primarily of an economic nature. This and other topics of mutual interest <...> They were discussed during the January 28 meeting in Moscow," she said at a briefing.

Zakharova noted that Russia has always come to the aid of the Syrian people in difficult times, and now that the country has entered a new stage of development, it needs support in restoring the national economy.

The parties paid special attention to practical issues of expanding mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation, including the prospects for implementing joint projects in the fields of medicine and construction.

On January 28, Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a meeting with Syria's interim leader Ahmed al-Sharaa, announced the readiness of the construction sector to jointly rebuild Syria. Putin also added that there had been no conflict periods in the history of bilateral relations since the recognition of Damascus' independence during World War II.
