The media reported on the UK's preparation of sanctions against the IRGC
Representatives of the British Ministry of the Interior are currently preparing sanctions against the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). This was reported on January 29 by The Times newspaper, citing sources.
"The Ministry of the Interior (Britain. — Ed.) confirmed that it is preparing a law prohibiting hostile state agencies, including the IRGC," the article says.
It is emphasized that the text itself, which has been prepared since May 2025, is unlikely to be reviewed and adopted quickly. If a resolution on measures against the IRGC is signed, law enforcement officials will have the authority to seize passports from those citizens who, in their opinion, could be associated with the activities of the corps.
The head of the European Diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, announced on the same day that the IRGC had been included in the list of terrorist organizations by the European Union (EU). The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Abbas Araqchi, in turn, said that this decision was a "strategic mistake."
