The expert spoke about the maximum amount of child care allowance from February 1.

The amount of the allowance sent monthly to citizens of the Russian Federation for the care of a child under the age of 1.5 years, starting from February 1, 2026, will amount to a maximum of 83 thousand rubles. This was announced on Wednesday, January 29, by Andrey Girinsky, Candidate of Economics, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Economics of the Rudn University.

This increase, as the expert explained, will occur after more than 40 payments are indexed by 5.6% at the beginning of the last winter month. Girinsky clarified that the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Russian Federation will handle this process.

"There are some calculation features, for example, the upper limit of the allowance and, in this case, the focus on the maximum amount of daily earnings, which this year will be 6,827.4 rubles. Then the calculation of the monthly allowance in the maximum version will be based on the methodology: 207,552.96 times 40%, that is, 83,021.18 rubles," he said in a conversation with RIA Novosti.

Girinsky, explaining his formula, said that the first multiplier was achieved by producing daily income and the number of days in a month, and the second by the amount of earnings received by an employed person. At the same time, in the case of reproducing the amount of the allowance for caring for minors for non-working citizens, a fixed amount of just over 10 thousand rubles per month is used, Girinsky explained.

The recalculation of pensions since January has already affected 400,000 mothers with many children.

On the same day, Sergei Rybalchenko, Chairman of the Public Chamber's commission on demography, family protection, children and traditional family values, said he would suggest that his colleagues consider introducing joint maternity leave in Russia for some working family members. According to him, this measure will allow, if implemented, the relatives of the young mother to help her without taking unpaid leave.
