The actions of representatives of the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to combat illegal migrants go too far, and the situation developing due to their rashness is worrying. This was announced to Izvestia on January 28 by retired lieutenant colonel of the American Army, political scientist Earl Rasmussen.

"My personal opinion is that it's too much. This has gone too far. <...> I am really concerned about what is happening," he said.

The expert said that ordinary citizens often suffer from the actions of people working in ICE, who have provoked large protests in the United States not for the first time. He also added that sometimes those arrested who have citizenship are deported from the country.

Speaking about the riots in Minneapolis, which began after an immigration officer shot and killed an armed man, Rasmussen stressed that only 600 police officers are involved in the city, while there are about 4 thousand people from ICE. He added that the response methods of the employees of these structures are different, as they follow different rules.

"Accidents happen as a result. <...> It seems that they (ICE. — Ed.) shoot before asking questions," he concluded.

Mass strikes, which were attended by almost 100,000 people, took place in Minnesota on January 24 after an employee of the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) service opened fire on an armed man in Minneapolis on January 24, as a result of which the injured man died.

US President Donald Trump expressed his bewilderment at the public outcry over the incident. He asked a rhetorical question addressed to law enforcement officers who allowed the presence of a man on the streets with a weapon ready to fire. In addition, the American leader criticized the actions of the local government, which, in his opinion, did not provide adequate protection for ICE employees.
