Dmitriev compared the dispute between Barro and Rutte to a childish quarrel.
Kirill Dmitriev, Special Representative of the Russian President and head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), on January 27 compared the dispute between French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noel Barraud and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte to a childish quarrel.
"When children quarrel, "daddy" decides," he wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
Barro rejected Rutte's claims that Europe allegedly cannot defend itself without the support of the United States.
"Even the United States agrees with this. This is the European pillar of NATO," the French minister said.
Rutte said on January 26 that NATO faces serious and long-term security challenges, and stressed the need for Europe and Canada to take greater responsibility for their protection.
