- Mishustin noted an increase in the number of trademark registrations in Russia by a quarter
In Russia, the number of trademark registrations has increased by a quarter, mainly due to domestic companies and regional brands. This was stated on January 27 by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin at a strategic session on the development of intellectual property.
"Positive dynamics is also noted for trademarks, their number has increased by a quarter. Most of the appeals now come from domestic companies. More and more Russian brands are entering the market, including, very importantly, regional brands," the head of government said.
As Mishustin emphasized, the set trend should continue to help domestic manufacturers — thus, both large businesses and small enterprises throughout Russia will be able to develop and offer customers something original.
In addition, the Prime Minister noted, the number of applications from individual entrepreneurs (sole proprietors) for registration of inventions in the field of high technologies has increased by almost a third. This refers to the figures for 2025 compared to 2024.
"New solutions have emerged for the information technology industry, for food chemistry, for medicine, for machine tool manufacturing and a number of other industries," Mishustin said.
In December last year, Izvestia, citing the law firm Verba Legal, reported that at least 14 Western companies that had left Russia had registered new trademarks with their own brand. For example, Starbucks, McDonald's, Apple, The Coca-Cola Company, IKEA, Inditex, Gucci and Dior, VISA, Hyundai and others have already used this opportunity.
