The Ministry of Emergency Situations warned Muscovites about a snowstorm and heavy snowfall on January 27-29.

Heavy snow, sleet and blizzard are expected in Moscow from January 27 to January 29. This was announced by the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in the capital on Monday, January 26.

"In the period from 00:00 on January 27 to 12:00 on January 29, prolonged heavy, sometimes very heavy snow, blizzard, snow drifts, and icy conditions are expected in Moscow," the Moscow City News agency quoted the message.

The ministry urged drivers to significantly reduce their speed and increase their distance from the cars in front, as well as park in safe places and avoid sudden maneuvers.

And in Chukotka and Yakutia, the temperature will be 25 degrees above normal.

Tatiana Pozdnyakova, a leading specialist at the Meteonosti agency, said on the same day that this week residents of the capital region are expecting a sharp change in the weather: light frosts at the beginning of the period will be replaced by heavy snowfall and a blizzard, writes Life.Ru .

According to her, late in the evening on Tuesday, January 27, an active atmospheric front will begin to determine the weather in the city, which will remain influential on Wednesday, January 28. It is associated with a whole range of adverse events — heavy snow, blizzard, snow drifts and rolling on the roads.

The temperature regime these days will be slightly below the climatic norm. On the night of January 27 in Moscow, the thermometer will drop to -10... -12 degrees, and in the afternoon the temperature will be -4 ... -6 degrees. On Wednesday night, heavy snow and a blizzard will remain in places, but the wind will gradually subside. Night and daytime temperatures on Wednesday will remain in the range of -4... -6 degrees, and the intensity of precipitation will decrease.

By the end of the working week, the snowfall will become less intense and local, but a noticeable cold snap will begin. On Friday night, the temperature in Moscow will drop to -10... -15 degrees, and during the day it will remain within the same limits. Similar frosty weather will continue on Saturday.
