Starting from Friday, January 23, severe frosts will cover the entire territory of Russia. In the Northwestern Federal District, the temperature will drop to -32 degrees, and in the Central Federal District — to -27. In some areas of the Moscow region it will be -30, in general the temperature is expected to be seven degrees below normal. And in Chukotka and the north of Yakutia, although it will be cold, it will be 20-25 degrees warmer than usual. About what climate records forecasters predict and how to eat properly in severe cold weather — in the material "Izvestia".

In which regions will it get colder

Severe frosts are coming to almost all Russian regions at the end of this week, Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, told Izvestia. For example, temperatures are expected to drop to -32 degrees in the Arkhangelsk Region, and to -35 degrees in the Komi Republic.

— In the center of the European part of Russia, the temperature began to drop on Friday, it will be 3-4 degrees below normal, — said the meteorologist.

It is expected to reach -18 degrees in Moscow on January 23, and -20 degrees in the Moscow region. This is seven degrees below normal, Roman Vilfand emphasized.

On Saturday and Sunday, especially severe frosts will affect Moscow and the neighboring regions, as well as the Voronezh, Kursk, Belgorod, Tambov and Lipetsk regions. There will be frosts of -20... -27 degrees in the entire Central Federal District.

In the south of the European part of Russia, temperatures are also expected to be 6-12 degrees below normal — up to -27, Roman Vilfand said.

— It is very cold everywhere in the Volga Federal District — temperatures are very low everywhere, up to -32 degrees, — said the meteorologist.

In the Urals, the temperature is expected to be 15 degrees below normal. In Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug — up to -40 degrees, in Yamalo-Nenets — up to -38 degrees, in Sverdlovsk Region — up to -42 degrees.

— Super cold weather — in the most densely populated areas of the Asian part of the country. These are the Altai Territory, Kemerovo, Novosibirsk, Omsk and Tomsk regions. Frosts will also be up to -42 degrees here, 12-15 degrees below normal," Roman Vilfand said.

In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Khakassia, Tuva — in the south-east of the Siberian Federal District — frosts of up to -50 are expected. The situation will be similar in the Far Eastern Federal District: in Buryatia and Transbaikalia.

— Warm weather, simply "winter heat", is forecast in Chukotka, northern Yakutia and the Magadan region. There's a deep cyclone that's developing now. Warm Pacific air is being thrown along its eastern periphery. In these regions, the temperature is 20-25 degrees above normal," Roman Vilfand said.

There will be a thaw in Anadyr, -18...-20 degrees in the Magadan region, -20...-25 degrees in Oymyakon, the coldest point in the world, the meteorologist noted.

It's freezing in Moscow

The cold peak in the Moscow region will occur on the weekend of January 24 and 25, Tatyana Pozdnyakova, a leading specialist at the Meteonosti news agency, told Izvestia — the average daily air temperature will be 12-14 degrees below the climatic norm.

— On Sunday night, the minimum temperature in the metropolitan region is -23 ...-28 degrees, in Moscow about -25 ...-26 degrees, — said the meteorologist. — It may drop to -30 degrees in places in the region at night. As a rule, the districts of Istra, New Jerusalem and Cherustey are considered such special places. There, the relief features in the conditions of an anticyclone always give the lowest temperature in winter.

On Sunday, Tatiana's Day, it will be coldest in the capital region in the afternoon — up to -20 degrees. On Monday, January 26, the situation will begin to change, as the anticyclone will retreat to the southeast, and the Atlantic cyclone from the west will begin to affect the weather in Moscow and the region.

— Monday and Tuesday, January 26 and 27, will be snowy, but a gradual increase in temperature will begin. On Monday night, the minimum temperature will be -15...-20 degrees, daytime — about -10, — added Tatiana Pozdnyakova. — By the end of the week, the daytime air temperature will already be in the range of +3...+4 degrees — above the climatic norm. Such sharp fluctuations in the temperature regime are expected at the end of January.

Residents of the Moscow region will face biting frosts, from which they have already become unaccustomed, due to the easterly wind and high humidity in the range of 60-65%, the meteorologist noted.

— The effective temperature will be lower than that indicated by the thermometers. That is, according to the warmth it will seem that it is much colder outside," explained Tatiana Pozdnyakova. — Why are frosts easier to bear in Siberia? Because the air humidity is 30-40% and the weather is almost calm.

How to dress in the cold

The right approach to clothing will help keep you warm in the cold, said Andrey Kondrakhin, a general practitioner and candidate of medical Sciences.

The most important thing is shoes, they should have thick soles to keep warm. It is also mandatory to wear socks, since the temperature of the feet is several degrees lower than the body temperature, and thermal underwear.

"Thermal underwear won't transfer heat outside if it's cold, and it won't allow you to overheat if it's hot," the doctor added.

It is preferable to choose cotton clothes. A scarf, a hat, or better yet, a hat with earflaps, and mittens, not gloves, are mandatory attributes of a winter look. At the same time, you should not dress too warmly if you only need to spend a few minutes outside, for example, to walk from the office to the subway. This will help to avoid overheating. But on long walks, on the contrary, it is worth warming up.

— If an adult wears one piece of clothing, then children under the age of five should wear two. Children are dressed like cabbage because they have poor thermoregulation," the doctor noted.

In cold weather, you should increase your calorie intake, Andrei Kondrakhin said.

— You should never go out hungry in this weather. Breakfast should be dense, because a person will lose twice as many calories as during periods when the weather is not so cold," the doctor emphasized.

It is worth slightly increasing the calorie intake and starting to consume more fatty foods: butter, lard, dumplings, jelly. And when the cold weather passes, it will be possible to return to the usual diet, Andrei Kondrakhin added.

Who is in danger of a minus sign

Severe frosts affect the well-being of any person, internist and immunologist Irina Yartseva told Izvestia. According to her, in cold weather it is better not to walk outside for a long time. People with vascular diseases of the legs, such as atherosclerosis, as well as diabetics, should be especially careful during this period — they have a risk of frostbite on their feet.

— The elderly do not need to stay outside in the cold for a long time. They have impaired sensitivity in their legs, although they dress warmly," the doctor noted.

If frosts are accompanied by changes in atmospheric pressure, then people with cardiovascular diseases may experience pressure drops, Irina Yartseva added. And people with eczema of the hands should not go outside in cold weather without gloves, because their skin immediately becomes chapped and dermatitis worsens.
