Madinat Sepikhanov, head of the sanatorium department of the Niki of Childhood, told how to survive abnormal frosts with children.

In an interview with Radio 1 on Friday, January 23, she said that the basis of protection against hypothermia is the rule of three layers of clothing. The first layer should remove moisture, the second should keep warm, and the third should protect from wind and snow.

The pediatrician emphasized that tight clothing and shoes that disrupt blood circulation increase the risk of frostbite. She also noted that in severe frosts it is important to strictly limit the time of walking: children aged two to three are recommended to stay outside for no more than 30-40 minutes, and if there are signs of freezing, reduce the walk to 10-15 minutes. For children over the age of seven, walks of up to an hour and a half are allowed when actively moving, but it is better to divide them into two exits. Babies under three months old at temperatures below -20 degrees are advised by the doctor to give up walking, replacing them with a short nap at an open window or on a glazed balcony.

The doctor added that the risks in the cold are often invisible, so 20-30 minutes before going out, you can apply a protective cream with panthenol. According to her, it is important to ensure that the child's neck, ears and hands are covered, as well as that he does not sweat indoors. If the temperature is below -25 degrees, the doctor recommends avoiding long walks or minimizing them.

On January 22, Anastasia Yakimova, a therapist at Krasnogorsk Hospital, recalled the rules of protection against hypothermia. According to her, it is worth wearing several thin layers of clothing, rather than one dense one. Special attention should be paid to limb protection: gloves or mittens should be dry and windproof, and shoes should be loose so as not to disrupt blood flow. 360.ru .

At the same time, cardiologist Denis Rozhkov said that the deterioration of well-being in frosty weather can be a manifestation of cold angina pectoris. An attack of cold angina usually lasts from one to five minutes and passes after the cessation of physical activity, when the heart receives enough oxygen again. If the pain persists, it is necessary to call an ambulance, as this may be a sign of a heart attack, writes RT.

Olga Saino, Associate Professor of the Department of Polyclinic Therapy at the Institute of Clinical Medicine at Pirogov University, said on January 16 that frosts in Moscow could affect the duration of the flu and SARS season. A decrease in the incidence of influenza can be expected by the middle to the end of March, according to the Moscow City News agency.

Elena Smirnova, a phlebologist at the Yusupov Hospital in Moscow, warned on January 8 that tight shoes in the cold season can harm the health of the feet and increase swelling. When choosing winter shoes, it is important to avoid squeezing the foot and shin.
