The State Duma named the amount of sick leave for child care in 2026

The amount of sick leave payments for parents in 2026 will depend on the level of earnings and work experience and will range from about 900 to more than 6.8 thousand rubles per day. This was announced on January 22 by Ekaterina Stenyakina, a member of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans' Affairs.

"If a parent has a high enough salary, he earns more than two million rubles a year, then the maximum amount of sick leave for one day of sick leave will be more than 6.8 thousand rubles," the deputy told TASS.

According to her, with less than eight years of experience, the payment will amount to 80% of average earnings, and with up to five years of experience — 60%.

"If the child is from zero to seven years old, then the reduction coefficient, which depends on the parent's length of service, is not included, and the parent receives 100% of the established amount," Stenyakina emphasized.

She added that if the salary is low or the length of service is less than six months, the sick leave is calculated based on the minimum wage. In this case, the payment will range from about 860 to 980 rubles per day, depending on the number of working days per month.

The recalculation of pensions since January has already affected 400,000 mothers with many children.

Earlier, on January 20, it was reported that in order to receive the maximum maternity allowance in 2026, a woman must have an income of at least 2.225 million rubles for 2024 and 2.759 million rubles for 2025. The amount of the payment is calculated based on the income for the previous two years. The maximum amount of benefits for standard sick leave for 140 days may exceed 955 thousand rubles, and for complicated childbirth or the birth of several children — more than 1 million rubles.
