Russia has increased milk production to record levels over the past 30 years. Last year, farmers supplied almost 34.5 million tons of this product. On January 21, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev summed up the results of the industry's development at the congress of the National Union of Milk Producers in Moscow.

Together with the heads of the largest companies, analysts and experts, they discussed the prospects of the market, including in matters of interaction with foreign partners.

"From 2019 to 2024, our export revenue in the segment increased by 60%. Last year, it increased by another 13%. In value terms, this is about $500 million. This is only an increase, but, in my opinion, significant figures, and this is a great success. In general, the picture in this market is quite stable," Patrushev said.

In addition, last year the production of cheese, cottage cheese and butter was increased, which, as the Deputy Prime Minister noted, had been experiencing difficulties for some time.

Patrushev also outlined a new guideline dictated by the presidential decree on national development goals. According to it, by 2030, Russia should produce at least 38.5 million tons of raw milk per year.

In December last year, in an interview with Izvestia, Patrushev spoke about plans to increase the grain harvest in the coming years. According to him, by 2030 this figure should reach 170 million tons. As the Deputy Prime Minister noted, this result cannot be achieved simply by scaling. The key to success is the introduction of efficiency—enhancing processes, Patrushev emphasized.
