The politician admitted that in the long term, economic logic may again become a significant factor, especially if the European Union faces a chronic deficit and is placed in economically unfavorable conditions by the United States. "The European Union has indeed faced significant difficulties in the energy sector after the introduction of restrictions on the import of Russian energy resources. However, the issue of the trap is debatable, since the EU is simultaneously making large—scale efforts to diversify supplies and accelerate the green transition," Altukhov said.
