Russians named health as the main area of investment in themselves in 2026
In 2026, Russians are increasingly planning to invest in themselves. Thus, 81% of respondents have a positive attitude towards this idea, while 69% associate investments in themselves primarily with health, which indicates a gradual transition from spontaneous decisions to a more conscious and regular approach. This is evidenced by the data from the Refformat dental study, which was reviewed on January 24 by Izvestia.
In addition to health, lifestyle, including sleep, nutrition and physical activity (61%), appearance and aesthetics (54%), comfort and quality of life (47%), as well as education and development (43%) were among the significant areas. 39% of respondents consider impressions and recreation as a form of investment in themselves.
Among the areas of health care, the study participants most often mentioned dentistry (61%) and preventive medical examinations (52%). Slightly less than half (46%) of the respondents invest in sports, 41% — in mental health, and one in three — in the treatment of current or chronic diseases.
This approach is also evident in practice: most Russians prefer scheduled visits to the dentist. So, 36% come to an appointment every six months, 27% — once a year, and another 18% — every two or three months. Contacting a doctor exclusively when pain occurs remains a less common scenario — 14% of respondents chose it.
Respondents named professional cleaning (64%), routine checkups and prevention (59%), as well as dental treatment, including caries and fillings (51%), as the most in-demand dental services. Aesthetic procedures such as bleaching and veneers are chosen by about a third of the respondents. Orthodontic treatment was noted by 21%, and implantation or prosthetics — by 17%.
Financially, investing in yourself is also becoming more meaningful. Most often, Russians are willing to spend 50,000 to 100,000 rubles a year on self—care - 28% of respondents chose this option. Another 24% focus on the range from 10 thousand to 50 thousand rubles, 21% — from 100 thousand to 300 thousand rubles. At the same time, part of the audience prefers a flexible approach: 8% do not fix the amount in advance and make a decision depending on the situation.
"We see that for many patients, self-care is no longer a one-time response to a problem. People are increasingly coming to understand why they need regular checkups and prevention, and they plan their time and budget in advance. This suggests that the attitude towards health is becoming more conscious and systematic," said Maxim Khyshov, founder and chief dentist of the Refformat Dental Clinic.
On January 9, Evgeny Khodchenkov, an investor and founder of the League of Investors investment club, spoke about the main financial mistakes of Russians. According to him, many close the necessary tasks, but do not build a spending plan for the future. Because of this, people start making emotional purchases and making questionable investments. Khodchenkov recommended making a simple financial strategy to understand what and how much money is being spent, what is better to invest in, and how much can be saved.
