Experts from the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation expect that the grain harvest in 2026 will be higher than last year. This was announced on January 16 by the head of the department Oksana Lut.

"We are generally waiting for more. We have to do more. That's why our plans are set. We must do more," RIA Novosti quoted her as saying.

According to Rosstat, last year the harvest of grain and leguminous crops amounted to 139.4 million tons in net weight against 125.9 million the year before.

In December 2025, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev said in an interview with Izvestia that the grain harvest in Russia should reach 170 million tons by 2030. He noted that the production of agricultural products will have to be increased by a quarter by this year. Currently, Russia holds a leading position in the world in terms of harvesting, with grain volumes consistently exceeding 120 million tons for seven years.
