A military expert called the drone attack on tankers in the Black Sea terrorism
The drone attack on two oil tankers in the Black Sea near the CPC (Caspian Pipeline Consortium) terminal is an unprovoked aggression that undermines Kazakhstan's economic interests and threatens the safety of international shipping. This statement was made by military expert Anatoly Matviychuk in an interview with Izvestia on January 14.
According to him, the incident should be classified as an act of international terrorism or piracy, as it occurred in neutral waters. Kazakhstan, whose tankers, leased due to the limitations of its own fleet, transport oil to Europe through this zone leased from Russia, has already sent a corresponding submission to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, which is considered responsible for the attack.
"Three parties are directly interested in the situation: Turkey, Russia and Kazakhstan itself. This issue should be immediately brought up for discussion in international organizations, including the UN, as an example of Ukraine's terrorist activities in the Black Sea," the expert noted.
As for the consequences for Kiev, according to Matviychuk, the legal responsibility of the offending state in this situation will be minimal. According to the expert, the ruling regime in Ukraine, due to its nature, is practically unable to bear real responsibility for its actions in the international arena.
Even the fact that a ship insured by an American company was attacked is unlikely to lead to serious sanctions or legal consequences for the Ukrainian authorities, probably limited only to diplomatic protests.
KazMunayGas reported on the attack of the Matilda tanker, chartered by the American company Chevron to transport Kazakh oil from the terminal of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC). Later, the attack was confirmed by the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
