In several cities in the Russian Federation, local authorities canceled school classes due to frosts. In particular, this affected students from cities such as Chelyabinsk, Tyumen, Kurgan, Krasnodar and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.

"Dear residents of Chelyabinsk! Today, on January 14, due to low ambient temperatures, the Committee for Education Affairs canceled classes in schools in Chelyabinsk, from the first to the seventh grades, the first and second shifts," wrote the Unified Duty and Dispatch Service of the city in the Telegram channel.

The press service of the Tyumen administration announced the cancellation of second-shift classes for full-time students in grades 1-4.

"Due to the low air temperature on January 14, 2026, classes in schools in the city of Kurgan from grades 1 to 11 of the first and second shifts in full-time are canceled. Classes are conducted using remote technologies," wrote the Telegram channel of the city administration.

In Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, classes were canceled for all students of both shifts from January 14 to 17 (inclusive), the press service of the city district administration noted.

Representatives of the government of the Kamchatka Territory reported on January 13 that all flights in their region were postponed due to a powerful cyclone.
