Frosts of up to -25 degrees are expected in the capital during the week of January 12-18, Alexander Shuvalov, head of the Meteo forecasting center, told Izvestia.

— On January 15, due to the influence of a small depression from the south and southeast, which mainly goes to the Volga region, the temperature will rise to -8...-10 degrees during the day. On Friday, January 16, an abnormal temperature course is expected during the day, a significant increase in pressure, a shift of the wind to the east and a decrease in temperature to -18...-20 degrees in the evening. On Saturday night, it is expected to reach -25 degrees," Shuvalov comments.

According to him, Pushkin's weather with frosts and sunshine will come to Moscow at the turn of January 16-18.

Snow is fading in the capital, says Alexander Ilyin, a forecaster at the Meteo forecasting center. By the end of the working week, the sun will come out, precipitation is not expected, wind up to 1-3 m/s throughout the week. Atmospheric pressure during the week "will show a fairly serious increase."

— If on Monday, January 12, the pressure in Moscow was about 743 mmHg, then on Friday, January 16, it will rise to 760 mmHg and the increase will continue over the weekend. On Sunday, the pressure may rise to 772 mm," explains Ilyin.

In the Moscow region on January 12-18, according to the forecaster, temperatures of -7...-12 degrees are expected during the day, and up to -17 degrees at night. After Epiphany, during the week of January 19-25, real frosts will strike. According to Ilyin, at night the temperature can reach -28 degrees.

Weather in St. Petersburg in January

Frosts will come to St. Petersburg only by the end of the week. According to Shuvalov, the temperature will drop to -13...-18 degrees over the weekend, and 20-degree frosts are not expected yet.

— Frost and sun will arrive in the Northern capital somewhat later than in Moscow. The first days of this five-day period are mostly cloudy, with clarifications. The wind is southerly and southeasterly, rather weak, the temperature is about -8...-13 degrees,— says Shuvalov.

The weather for the Northwestern region on January 12-18 will be quite sunny, Ilyin notes. Atmospheric pressure will increase from Friday, and by Sunday it will reach 784 mmHg.

Weather in the Urals in January

A powerful Arctic invasion is expected in the Urals, Ilya Vinstein, a weather forecaster and author of the Weather 72 project, wrote on the Telegram channel. According to him, the cold air will pass through the eastern slope of the Ural Mountains.

In the coming days, the Urals will be covered by 30-degree frosts, says Shuvalov. According to him, it will be up to -35 degrees in Yekaterinburg and Tyumen at the beginning of the week. Ilyin clarifies that in the Southern Urals the temperature may drop to -40 degrees. Precipitation is not expected in Yekaterinburg, Tyumen, Chelyabinsk and Perm.

Weather in Siberia in January

This region will justify its cold Siberian character during the week of January 12-18, says Ilyin. On Wednesday, January 14, and Thursday, January 15, temperatures will drop to -35...-38 degrees in Novosibirsk, Tomsk, Barnaul and Krasnoyarsk, says Shuvalov.

— The air temperature in almost all of Siberia ranges from -30 to -40 degrees, in some places from -40 to -50 degrees. This is especially true in Central Siberia, in the south of the Siberian Federal District there will be frosts from -32 to -38 degrees," explains Ilyin.

Precipitation, according to the forecaster, is not expected, they may be local in nature. The weather will be sunny.

Weather in other regions of Russia

The weather in the south of the country will be cold for the region, says Shuvalov. According to him, in some areas of Crimea and Kuban, temperatures can drop to -10...-12 degrees.

According to Ilyin, it will be cold this week in Chukotka (up to -32 degrees), in the continental regions of Yakutia (up to -35 degrees), in Transbaikalia (-30 degrees), Primorsky Krai (up to -30 degrees).

— Where it is worth waiting for snow is in the island part of the Far East. Heavy precipitation in the coming days will cover Sakhalin, the southern and eastern regions of Kamchatka. There will also be gusty winds up to 22-28 m/s, it will raise snowstorms," says Ilyin.
