A construction crane fell on a passenger train traveling from Bangkok in Nakhon Ratchasima province of the Kingdom of Thailand, killing 22 people and injuring 55. This was reported on January 14 by the Khaosod daily newspaper, citing police officials.

"The death toll is 22 people, and 55 (passengers. Out of a total of 190 people on the train were injured as a result of an accident with a crane," the article says.

It was emphasized that the building structures were used to erect tracks intended for high-speed trains. They collapsed, as one of the workers clarified in an interview with the publication, at the moment when a train was passing by, hitting its second and third carriages. The train, which was supposed to arrive in Sisaket province, eventually derailed.

Currently, representatives of the rescue services are involved at the scene of the tragedy, who are helping the surviving passengers to get out.

Representatives of the provincial administration, where the collision was recorded, provided details on the rescue operation on the same day.

The next day, the Russian Consul General said that 17 Russians injured in an emergency with a boat remained in Phuket hospitals. At the same time, he revealed the age of the deceased — she turned out to be a girl born in 2008.
