The total volume of the Russian car market decreased by 19% in 2025

By the end of 2025, the total volume of the Russian car market decreased by 19% compared to 2024 and amounted to 1.49 million units. Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, told about this in his Telegram channel on January 13.

According to the agency, the market volume of new passenger cars decreased by 16% to 1.33 million units. The market volume of light commercial vehicles (LCVs; up to 3.5 tons) decreased by 22% and amounted to 87.6 thousand units.

In the segment of medium-range trucks (MCVs; 3.5-16 tons), the market fell by 44% to 12.3 thousand units. The market volume of heavy trucks (over 16 tons) decreased by more than half (-54%) and amounted to 46.9 thousand units. In addition, the bus segment decreased by a third (-34%) to 12.9 thousand units.
