- The Iranian Foreign Ministry announced control over the situation with protests in the country
The Iranian authorities have taken control of the situation with the protests in the country. This was stated on January 12 by the head of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Abbas Araqchi, at a meeting with the ambassadors of other states.
"The situation is now under full control," Araqchi said, according to Al Jazeera TV channel.
According to him, the demonstrations were "instigated and incited" by foreign elements, and security forces will "hunt down" those responsible.
Earlier in the day, it became known that the death toll from the protests in Iran had risen to 538, including 490 protesters and 48 security personnel. It is noted that more than 10.6 thousand people were arrested during the protests.
Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei said on January 9 that the Iranian youth and the entire nation must maintain unity, which will allow them to defeat any enemy. After that, Iran's Supreme National Security Council accused the United States and Israel of organizing unrest in the country.
