Representatives of the independent agency of the US Federal Government (CIA) have been monitoring the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, for several months in order to establish his habits and subsequently capture him. This was reported on January 3 by the Axios portal, citing sources.

"A small CIA team spent months on the ground in Venezuela tracking Maduro's whereabouts and habits. This job <... She gave "an extraordinary understanding of Maduro's lifestyle, which made his capture unhindered," one of them said.

An unnamed interlocutor of the portal stated that the CIA agents began performing their duties in August 2025 and since then have collected information about the places of residence, diet and even pets of the Venezuelan leader.

It is noted that in parallel with this process, American special forces conducted training sessions to capture Maduro, practicing their skills on a specially recreated exact model of his house. The replica of the Venezuelan president's residence was so elaborate that it, like the real building, featured safes and steel structures.

A large-scale strike on Venezuela, which killed at least 40 people, became known earlier in the day. The purpose of this operation, Trump called the capture of the Venezuelan leader, who, along with his wife, Celia Flores, had already been taken to New York.

The American leader said on January 3 that there was extensive evidence of Maduro's alleged crimes. Thus, the president of Venezuela, according to his information, personally supervised the activities of the Cartel de los Soles (Cartel of the Suns. — Ed.), who was transporting drugs to the United States. At the same time, Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez announced that a law on the introduction of a state of emergency had entered into force in her country.
