In order for the holidays to bring maximum benefits and allow the child to really relax, it is worth limiting the time devoted to study to 30-45 minutes, two to three times a week, as excessive activities can interfere with full recovery. Oksana Adamovskaya, Scientific Secretary of the Federal State Budgetary Budgetary Institution "Institute of Child Development, Health and Adaptation", Candidate of Biological Sciences, told about this on January 2.

"If the child and the parents (legal representatives) have decided to continue classes, to improve the school subject, then it is better to study no more than two or three times a week for 30-45 minutes. Otherwise, the child will not get a full rest," she said in an interview with TASS.

The expert explained that in order to prevent overwork of students, the educational process is organized with alternating study periods and vacations. The only exceptions are rare cases when part of extracurricular activities can be postponed during the holidays, but not more than half of the total hours.

Adamovskaya added that such extracurricular activities during the holidays can take place according to special thematic programs, for example, in summer camps (day or country), as part of tourist and local history events (including in nature) or during trips.

Gennady Onishchenko, Deputy President of the Russian Academy of Education, said on November 6 that the proposal to reduce summer holidays for schoolchildren requires in-depth analysis, including issues of teacher remuneration and possible consequences for primary schools. He also expressed the opinion that such a measure should definitely not be extended to elementary school students.
