A Ukrainian man with a radio jammer was detained at Warsaw airport.
Ilya S., a 23-year-old citizen of Ukraine, was detained at Warsaw airport with a device for suppressing radio signals. This was reported on January 1 by the newspaper Rzeczpospolita.
"Ilya S. was detained on the second day of Christmas, and the next day he was temporarily arrested by the Warsaw Court. The man was carrying a radio wave jamming device operating in the frequency ranges intended for communications and aerial navigation," the material says.
It is specified that the young man spent several hours in a cafe in the open area of the terminal and could not explain the purpose of his stay, as well as why he brought the equipment. After his detention, the court decided to arrest him.
According to the newspaper, the case is being investigated on suspicion of attempting to use a device operating in the ranges reserved for aviation communications, radar and radio navigation. Peter Skiba, a representative of the prosecutor's office, said that the suspect was charged with "attempting actions that threaten the safety of air traffic."
On December 8, three Ukrainian citizens were detained in Poland, who had equipment found in their car, including a spy device detector and hacking equipment. At that time, despite claims that they were IT specialists, the detainees could not explain why they needed such equipment.
