Recognition of the root causes of the conflict in Ukraine is a prerequisite for its settlement. This was announced on December 28 by Glenn Diesen, professor at the University of Southeastern Norway.

"Recognition of the root causes of the conflict is not a "pro—Russian" position, but a necessary condition for resolving the conflict and saving Ukraine," the social network X (ex. Twitter).

Diesen also pointed out that in 2014, after the change of power in Ukraine, NATO states, as well as the United States and Great Britain, took an active part in the formation of new Ukrainian intelligence structures, which, according to his assessment, were created in close cooperation with the American Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the British MI6 service.

On December 28, US President Donald Trump held talks with the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, to discuss issues related to resolving the Ukrainian crisis. The meeting took place in the main dining room of the Mar-a-Lago residence of the American leader in Florida.

At the same time, Trump discussed with Putin the possible time and place of their future meeting. According to the US president, the previously created theory about the alleged Russian footprint hindered the interaction of the two states.

On December 28, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced Russia's intention to continue working with the United States to develop sustainable agreements related to addressing the root causes of the Ukrainian conflict. Lavrov also noted the value of the efforts of Trump and his team in achieving a peaceful settlement.
