On New Year's Eve, the metro will operate around the clock and for free
In Moscow, on New Year's Eve, the metro and the Moscow Central Ring (MCC) will operate around the clock, and the Moscow Central Diameters (MCC) will operate until 03:00. This was announced on December 26 by the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin.
"On the night of December 31 to January 1, public transport will operate on a special schedule so that Muscovites and guests of the capital can safely get home, to visit and to festive events," Sobyanin wrote on the Max messenger.
From 20:00 on December 31 to 06:00 on January 1, travel by metro, MCC and land transport will be free. In addition, 116 popular bus and electric bus routes, as well as 18 tram routes, including the first Moscow tram diameter T1, will operate without interruptions. All 18 regular night routes will continue to run according to the usual schedule.
Travel to the MDC on New Year's Eve will be charged at the current rates. The Moscow metro is also organizing a broadcast of the Russian president's New Year's address. On Christmas Night, from January 6-7, the work of the metro and the MCC will be extended until 02:00, the MCC — until 03:00.
Ground transportation will operate until 03:30, including 125 bus and electric bus routes and 18 tram routes. All 18 night routes will continue to operate according to the usual schedule.
On December 19, 23 more trains with New Year's decorations were launched in the Moscow metro. It was clarified that festive trains began to run along 11 metro lines in order to create a New Year's mood among passengers.
