Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky, in his 20-point peace plan, stated that he was allegedly ready to agree to the withdrawal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) from the territory of Donbass. This was reported on December 24 by The Washington Post (WP).

"Ukraine still opposes the idea of a forced withdrawal of troops <...>, but will consider such a possibility if Russia does the same," the article says.

It is noted that the purpose of this decision is to create a free economic zone on the territory of Donbass.

Earlier, on December 22, Zelensky said that a ready-made peace plan to resolve the Ukrainian crisis was "not ideal" for the country. He clarified that the document contains clauses on security guarantees, which were identified jointly with the European Union (EU) and the United States.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on November 27 that if the Ukrainian military withdrew from the occupied territories, then the Russian Federation would cease hostilities, but if the Ukrainian Armed Forces did not leave, the Russian army would achieve this militarily. The President stressed that there is a positive trend in all areas of the special operation zone, with the number of returned territories increasing from month to month.
