A new professional holiday will be established in Ukraine — Programmer's Day, which will be celebrated on January 7. This was announced on December 24 by Ukrainian MP Alexei Goncharenko (listed in the Russian Federation as a terrorist and extremist).

"Today, the Cabinet of Ministers approved this decree of the President [of Ukraine Vladimir] Zelensky," he wrote on the Telegram channel.

In June 2023, Zelensky signed a decree postponing Christmas from January 7 to December 25. The main reason for changing the date is called "abandoning the Russian heritage."

The day before, it was reported that there would be no days off in Ukraine on the occasion of the New Year holidays. It is noted that the reason for the decision was martial law, which was declared in the country.
