Ukraine discussed the date of joining the European Union (EU) directly with the United States without the participation of the member states of the association. This was announced on December 23 by Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky.

"The dates of accession [to the European Union] for Ukraine today are a bilateral conversation between America and Ukraine without European confirmation yet," Interfax Ukraine quoted him as saying.

Zelensky noted that Ukraine wants to see a specific date for joining the EU and stressed that he regards this as "the right guarantee of security." In addition, the head of the Kiev regime admitted that it could be 2027 or 2028 and added that he sees appropriate support from the United States.

Earlier, on December 22, Zelensky said that a ready-made peace plan to resolve the Ukrainian crisis was "not ideal" for the country. He clarified that the document contains clauses on security guarantees, which were identified jointly with the EU and the United States.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said on December 8 that the EU intends to speed up the procedure for Ukraine's admission and is targeting 2030 as the target date for its entry, which in fact will be the beginning of a direct conflict with Russia.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on November 20 that Ukraine did not meet any of the criteria for joining the EU. According to her, there is no democracy on the Ukrainian territory, as well as transparency of the judicial system and anti-corruption legislation.
