The economist spoke about the movement of the ruble exchange rate this week

This week, we expect quotes to fluctuate between 75.50–81.50 rubles per dollar, 89-95 rubles per euro and 10.70–11.50 rubles per yuan. Spartak Sobolev, head of the Alfa-Forex Investment Strategy Research Department, told Izvestia about this on December 23.

On December 23, the Central Bank of the Russian Federation set the exchange rate of the American currency at 79.3 rubles, the European currency at 92.8 rubles, and the Chinese currency at 11.2 rubles. At the same time, according to the Moscow Exchange, on December 15, the yuan is also trading at 11.1 rubles.

"The Russian currency remains attractive after the decision of the Bank of Russia to limit itself to easing monetary conditions by 0.5%. Additional support for the ruble exchange rate will be provided by the final tax payments," Sobolev said.

Experts assess the risks differently

On December 11, economist Alexander Grif predicted the exchange rate of the dollar, euro and yuan in January 2026. According to him, there will be no sharp fluctuations in the exchange rate in January 2026. In the absence of new shocks, the ruble will remain stable. The dollar will be around 77-80 rubles, the euro — 85-90 rubles, the yuan — about 11 rubles.
