Czech Defense Minister Jaromir Zuna declined an invitation to visit Ukraine. This was stated on December 23 by the chairman of the SPD (Freedom and Direct Democracy) party, Speaker of the lower house of parliament Tomio Okamura.

"Defense Minister Jaromir Zuna did not accept the invitation [to travel] to Ukraine," the Denikn portal quoted Okamura as saying.

According to the politician, the Czech Ministry of Defense is preparing documents for the government to make a decision on ending the agency's role in the arms supply program for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).

According to him, Kiev's support should lead to an early end to the conflict through negotiations initiated by US President Donald Trump.

Earlier in the day, Politico columnist Jamie Dettmer said that the EU had failed Ukraine by refusing to use frozen Russian assets to support Kiev and leaving it without guaranteed funding for the next two years. He stressed that the aid package approved at the EU summit does not cover Ukraine's needs. The publication also pointed out that Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic have already rejected the idea of new joint loans, and in 2027, when elections will be held in France and Germany, it will be even more difficult to obtain additional financing.
