The President of the Russian Federation congratulated security officials on their professional holiday

On December 20, Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated security personnel and veterans on their professional holiday and thanked them for their clear and well-coordinated work in countering both external and internal threats.

"Dear comrades, dear veterans, I cordially congratulate you on the Day of Security Personnel! <... I would like to thank the leadership and personnel of the Russian special services for their clear, well—coordinated work in any, the most difficult situation, for their measured and decisive actions in repelling external and internal threats," he said in his video message.

Putin stressed that security personnel have always respected and protected the best traditions of their services, while preserving the continuity of generations. As the Russian leader noted, they share with their young colleagues their personal invaluable experience in defending the interests, rights and freedoms of Russians.

The President recalled that the role of special services personnel who emerged from the intense "duels of the cold war", gave their lives and did everything to defend the sovereignty, territorial integrity and the very future of Russia will forever remain imprinted in the history of the country.

"I am sure that you will continue to promptly solve all the tasks set at your site, give your strength, knowledge, and experience to serve the Motherland and our great people," he concluded.

On August 8, Putin discussed regional security with members of the Security Council. During the meeting, as the President of the Russian Federation clarified, the issues on the agenda at that time were raised, as well as reports from Alexander Bortnikov, head of the Federal Security Service (FSB), and Vladimir Kolokoltsev, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.
