Russia's first "gigafactory" for the production of lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles was opened in the Kaliningrad region on December 15. The production was put into pilot operation by Alexey Likhachev, General Director of Rosatom State Corporation.

According to him, the opening should ensure the development of "green electricity" in the territory of the Russian Federation. He also noted that industrial storage devices, which are manufactured at the gigafactory, will allow balancing the energy system using renewable sources.

"We will replicate this technology, replicate it in Russia. There is already interest, including legally significant agreements with our foreign partners," Likhachev said.

He added that Russia's closest neighbors, as well as foreign countries, including Egypt and Turkey, are interested in Russian technologies.

On November 19, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Russia plans to organize the serial production of small nuclear power plants (NPP). According to him, in the future, in less than 20 years, Russia plans to build 38 new nuclear power units, mainly in the Urals, Siberia and the Far East. Their total capacity will be comparable to the capacity of the entire existing nuclear generation in the country. Putin added that Russian integrated solutions in the field of nuclear energy are ready to offer to foreign partners.
