The Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia proposed to introduce mandatory labeling of condoms and some other medical products. Information about this appeared on December 12 on the website of the federal Internet portal of legal information.

Thus, starting from June 1, 2026, mandatory labeling may apply to the following products: condoms, syringes, napkins, test tubes, fillers and cosmetic filaments, medical masks. Currently, the proposed extension is at the stage of public discussions on the draft text.

In March 2024, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed a decree according to which an experiment on labeling by means of identification of certain types of medical devices was planned in Russia from September 1, 2024 to August 31, 2025. It was noted that as part of the experiment, technologies for applying identification tools to medical devices, the interaction of turnover participants with the labeling information system, as well as other issues related to the organization of labeling will be worked out and tested.
