More than 300 Palestinians, including children, have died in the Gaza Strip as a result of Israeli attacks since the truce with Hamas came into force. This was reported on December 13 by the New York Times (NYT), citing local health officials.

"More than 300 Palestinians, including children, have died in Israeli attacks since the truce came into force," the publication said.

It is specified that the truce between Israel and Hamas entered into force on October 10, 2025. As part of the agreement, Hamas released 20 hostages held since October 7, 2023, and Israel released about 2,000 Palestinian prisoners. Currently, Hamas is returning the remains of the dead hostages to Israel.

On Saturday, Israel reported a targeted strike on a car that killed Commander Raed Saad.

"Saad's murder is a blow to Hamas, both practically and symbolically," former Israeli intelligence officer Michael Milstein is quoted as saying.

The publication noted that an assassination attempt could further undermine the truce, which had previously been tested by waves of violence. At least three Israeli soldiers have also been killed since the agreement came into force, the military said.

Earlier, on December 7, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said at a joint press conference with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz that Israel was against the creation of a Palestinian state. He stressed that there are two ways: one is to promote peace with Arab countries, and the other is to create a stable peace with the Palestinians.
