Trump urged Zelensky to assess the situation in Ukraine realistically
US President Donald Trump said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky should take a realistic approach to resolving the conflict in the country. He announced this on December 10 at the White House in an interview with reporters.
"I think he has to be realistic. And I really wonder how much time will pass before they have elections," the American leader noted.
According to him, polls show that the majority of Ukrainians support the end of the conflict.
"There was a survey according to which 82% of people demand a settlement. Ukrainians want a settlement. I understand that," Trump added.
Earlier, on December 10, it was reported that the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Denis Shmygal declared the country's readiness to hold general elections while observing security conditions. He stressed that voting is possible only if the protection of voters, including those who are on the front line, is ensured. Also, in his opinion, it is necessary to involve foreign observers to monitor the process.
