KCNA reported on Kim Jong-un's condolences to the Russian Embassy in the DPRK
On December 10, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un visited the Russian Embassy in the country to express condolences over the death of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation Alexander Matsegora. This was reported on December 11 by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).
"Comrade Kim Jong-un laid a bouquet of flowers in memory of Alexander Ivanovich Matsegora, who devoted his entire noble life to strengthening and developing Korean-Russian friendship," the publication says.
During the visit, Kim Jong-un met with family members of the deceased and senior embassy staff, expressing his deepest condolences. He stressed that Matsegora was a capable diplomat who made a significant contribution to the history of Korean-Russian relations, and his death is a great loss for the governments and peoples of the two countries.
The leader of the DPRK noted that the respect and memory of Matsegora will remain forever, and relations between the DPRK and Russia will continue to strengthen and develop in accordance with his wishes.
On December 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the death of Russia's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the DPRK, Alexander Matsegora, was an irreparable loss for Russia's foreign policy. The Russian leader expressed his deep condolences to the ambassador's family.
Matsegora died on December 8 at the age of 71. The Russian Foreign Ministry stressed his outstanding contribution to strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries and expressed sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased. The next day, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un expressed his deep condolences to the Russian Embassy in Pyongyang in connection with Matsegora's death.
