Pashinyan and Merz sign strategic partnership agreement in Berlin
Armenia and Germany signed a Declaration on the strategic Agenda of the bilateral partnership, officially transferring relations to the level of strategic partnership. This was announced on November 9 by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
"We have signed a joint declaration on the strategic agenda with the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany," he wrote on his Telegram channel.
Pashinyan noted that the meeting noted the consistent strengthening and deepening of relations between Armenia and Germany in recent years in all areas, including trade, economic, educational, scientific, cultural and environmental. The document establishes the transition of bilateral cooperation to a qualitatively new stage.
"Relations between our countries are based on mutual respect, trust, values that unite us, and common commitments regarding human rights, democracy, and the rule of law," NewsArmenia quoted the Prime Minister as saying.
On December 4, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that EU representatives, making statements about relations between Armenia and Russia, resemble vampires and evil fairies, since their only goal is to damage relations between Moscow and Yerevan. She noted that EU representatives, in particular the head of the European Diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, and the European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kosa, who called on Armenia to join the anti-Russian sanctions, exposed themselves.
On December 2, Kallas announced that the European Union would allocate €15 million to increase Armenia's resilience in the run-up to the parliamentary elections in the republic. The EU representative stressed that Brussels supports reforms in Armenia, including initiatives aimed at diversifying the country's economy. The EU will also continue to cooperate with Armenia on issues of security and visa facilitation.
Earlier, on November 12, the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) reported that the Armenian authorities, for political reasons, want to "get rid" of Russia and provide assistance to Ukraine. It was clarified that for many years Armenia had been buying grain from Russia, but now Yerevan is announcing its intention to start purchasing part of the supplies from Kiev. At the same time, the cost of Ukrainian grain is more expensive than Russian grain.
