Ciprian Ciucu won the Bucharest mayoral election with 36% of the vote
Ciprian Ciucu, a representative of the center-right National Liberal Party, has been elected the new mayor general of the Romanian capital. 36% of the voters voted for him in the elections of the General mayor of Bucharest. This was announced on December 5 by the sociological service Center for Urban and Regional Sociology (CURS).
"The maximum margin of error for the entire sample is +/-3.5% with a confidence level of 95%," the report says.
In second place is the candidate of the center—left Social Democratic Party Daniel Beluta (22%), in third place is the independent candidate Anca Alexandrescu, who was supported by the nationalist Alliance for the Unification of Romanians and the current member of the Romanian Chamber of Deputies Catalin Drula (16%).
Romanian Defense Minister Ionuc Mostianu announced his resignation on November 28 amid a scandal related to his resume. According to the Digi24 TV channel, the minister indicated false information about education in his first official resume, stating that he graduated from the Athenaeum University, which he had never actually studied at.
