The media reported on Netanyahu's request to Trump to help him with a pardon.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has asked US President Donald Trump to support his attempt to obtain a pardon. This was reported on December 2 by the Axios portal with reference to American and Israeli officials.

In addition, the publication added that the American leader had repeatedly intervened in Israeli politics and sought to end the proceedings.
In February 2019, Israeli Prosecutor General Avichai Mendelblit announced his intention to bring charges against Netanyahu. Netanyahu himself has repeatedly denied involvement in corruption and called the accusations a witch hunt.
On June 27, 2025, the court rejected Netanyahu's request to be excused from testifying in the corruption case. Later, on September 29, Herzog made it clear that he could pardon Netanyahu during the corruption trial, saying that "this case puts a lot of pressure on Israeli society."
On November 12, Trump sent an official letter to Yitzhak Herzog urging him to consider pardoning Netanyahu. Trump expressed respect for the Israeli judicial system, but called the case against the prime minister unfounded and political.

It was clarified that the package of documents consists of a letter signed by the prime minister and a 111-page request drawn up by Netanyahu's lawyer Amit Hadad.
