US Secretary of the Army Daniel Driscoll tried to convince European diplomats of the need for an early settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. This was reported on November 26 by The New York Times (NYT), citing sources.

"The subtext was clear, the officials said: it is necessary to come to an agreement as soon as possible," the article says.

According to the publication, European diplomats gathered in Kiev to get acquainted with the US plan to resolve the Ukrainian crisis. One of Driscoll's arguments in favor of a quick end to the conflict was his remark that Russia produces so many long-range missiles that it has the opportunity to significantly increase its arsenal.

Earlier, on November 26, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov urged not to exaggerate the importance of leaks to the media related to negotiations on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict. At the same time, Peskov noted that there are forces in different countries, including the United States, that will try to disrupt the trend towards a peaceful resolution of the Ukrainian conflict.

Prior to that, on November 25, it was reported that American leader Donald Trump had instructed US Special Representative Steven Witkoff to arrange a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow. At the same time, Driscoll is to hold talks with Ukrainian representatives.
