Politico reported on Zelensky's difficult choice due to the US plan for Ukraine
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will have to make a choice: accept the terms of the ceasefire prepared by the administration of American leader Donald Trump, or rely on the help of unreliable European partners. This was reported by the Politico newspaper on November 25.
"Zelensky will have to make an unpleasant choice: either accept the proposal prepared by Trump, <...> or put the future of his country on the line in the hope of one day receiving sufficient help from his European friends," the article says.
The authors of the article emphasized that for Zelensky, the Europeans are those "friends who, after almost four years of conflict, will not send him either their troops or the weapons he needs."
Earlier in the day, CBS News reported that Ukraine had agreed to the terms of the U.S. peace plan.
In turn, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov drew attention to the fact that Zelensky and his entourage make contradictory statements on the peace plan. He recalled how the Ukrainian leader stated that he was ready to discuss the plan and agree on some acceptable formulations. However, later his representatives indicated that this was excluded.
The day before, it was reported that the United States and Ukraine had developed a new peace agreement and reduced Trump's peace plan from 28 points to 19. It was noted that the meeting resulted in a carefully revised draft document, which aroused "positive" feelings on both sides.
