The State Duma called an unacceptable point of the EU peace plan for Ukraine
The point of the European Union (EU) peace plan on the possibility of Ukraine joining NATO is absolutely unacceptable for Russia. Svetlana Zhurova, deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Relations, said this on Monday, November 24.
"And what does Europe have to do with it? They have their own peace plan for Ukraine — it sounds strange. There are two sides to the negotiations. America was also allowed to act as a mediator, but this does not mean that now everyone will be a mediator. <...> That is, the American plan says not to join NATO, and immediately Europe says to join. NATO is absolutely unacceptable for us," the deputy said in an interview with Lenta.Ru .
The day before, Western media published the full text of the EU plan to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. It contains 24 positions with requirements, writes Life.Ru .
According to the plan, both sides of the conflict commit to ensure a complete and unconditional cease-fire in the sky, on land and at sea. Territorial issues will be discussed and resolved after a complete cease-fire, RT reports.
Russia and Ukraine guarantee that the conflict will not happen again, and after agreeing on territorial issues, Russia and Ukraine commit not to change borders by force. In addition, Ukraine is not forced to observe neutrality, and the country's membership in NATO will depend on reaching consensus in the alliance, IA Regnum reports.
Earlier on November 24, Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov declared the unacceptability of the European plan to resolve the situation in Ukraine. 360.ru .
