A major fire occurred on the container ship "1 Henry Hudson" in the port of Los Angeles in San Pedro Bay. This was announced on November 21 by the city's Fire Department (LAFD) on its website.

"At 20:27 (07:27 Moscow time on November 22. — Ed.) the last five crew members were helped to leave the ship — all crew members are now accounted for, there are no casualties," the message says.

According to preliminary data, the fire started as a result of an electrical short circuit under the deck of the vessel. The fire spread to several levels and compartments of the ship. Later, an explosion occurred on the middle deck, disrupting the ship's power supply, including lighting systems and crane equipment.

According to the department, 186 LAFD employees, marine units and drones with thermal imagers were involved in extinguishing the fire. Experts continue to monitor the air quality and stability of the vessel in the water.

In the city of Uruma, Okinawa Prefecture, Japan, on August 20, a fire broke out on the amphibious transport dock of the US Navy USS New Orleans. According to a representative of the Japanese Coast Guard, it was confirmed that smoke was rising from the bow of the ship. Japan's Self-Defense Forces participated in extinguishing the fire.
