A pleasure boat with passengers capsized in the Barents Sea near the shore of Teriberka. All passengers were rescued and taken to the shore, but the vessel began to sink. In the village of Teriberka Murmansk region in the waters of the Barents Sea capsized pleasure craft with passengers. This was reported by the North-West Transport Prosecutor's Office on Wednesday, November 27.
All passengers were saved, they have already been taken to the shore. In the Western Interregional Department of Investigation on Transport of the Investigation Committee of Russia explained that people from the overturned board was taken away by a passing vessel. According to preliminary data, there were 10 people on board: nine passengers from Moscow and St. Petersburg and the captain.
According to "Fontanka", the overturned vessel turned out to be the "Boyets", and to the aid of passengers came the ship "St. Ekaterina". Later it became known that the "Boyets" began to sink.
At the same time, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Murmansk region earlier warned that on November 27 the exit of small vessels in Teriberka is limited. Because of the weather there was introduced a high alert mode. According to the source "RIA Novosti", the vessel capsized on the approach to the pier because of strong wind.
Criminal case on the fact of the overturned ship in Teriberka
Investigators have opened a criminal case under the article on the provision of services that do not meet safety requirements (paragraph "a" part 2 of article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The North-West Transport Prosecutor's Office started its check. All the circumstances of the incident are being clarified. The captain is being questioned.
As noted in the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations, the main department did not receive reports about the accident, no one asked for help.
When the navigation season in Teriberka, what to watch in November
On November 25, it was reported that access to the waters of the Barents Sea was limited for small vessels due to strong winds. According to forecasters, gusts reached 25-30 m/s, and wave height was forecast to increase to 2.5 meters. The restriction was in effect until at least 9 a.m. on November 26.
Earlier in the Ministry of Regional Security of the Murmansk region "KP" explained that navigation in the Barents Sea is allowed to small vessels until the appearance of ice. However, we are primarily talking about the vessels of organizations that ensure public safety on water bodies, protection of the aquatic environment, as well as those involved in flood control, search and rescue work.
At the same time, a schedule of navigation closure is drawn up, and the dates for each settlement are specified there. Usually the navigation season ends by the middle or end of November, depending on weather conditions.
Tourists come to the region to see whales, photo hunting for these marine animals has become very popular. The whale watching season in the Murmansk Region starts in June and lasts until the end of November.
