The Russian Defense Ministry spoke about the significance of the liberation of Platonovka

After the liberation of the Platonovka settlement in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), the Russian Armed Forces (RF Armed Forces) can fully control the Seversk–Krasny Liman road. This was announced on November 18 by the Russian Defense Ministry.

"Continuing their successful offensive actions, the soldiers of the 7th separate Motorized Rifle brigade took another settlement in the city of Seversk. The capture of the village deprives the enemy of an important logistical route, significantly complicating the position of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the city," the ministry said in a statement.

They clarified that the capture of Platonovka was carried out by soldiers of the 7th Separate Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 3rd Combined Arms Army of the Southern Group of Forces.

According to the platoon commander with the call sign Cap, the success of the operation was ensured through careful preparation.

"Before going there, our groups studied maps, watched videos, and were prepared. We already knew the routes and confidently moved forward to Platonovka. They came in small groups, moved from house to house, and cleaned up. As a rule, the enemy is afraid to engage in counter—fighting," the military said.

A stormtrooper with the call sign Shelest said that the enemy was lured into the forest belts by simulated attacks, which allowed the assault groups to enter Platonovka itself, gain a foothold and clean up the settlement.

On November 17, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation liberated the settlements of Dvurechanskoye in the Kharkiv region, Platonovka in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) and Guy in the Dnipropetrovsk region earlier that day. It was noted that the losses of the Ukrainian military there amounted to more than 215 people. In addition, two armored combat vehicles, seven vehicles and three field artillery guns of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were destroyed.
